Your local cafe with a Turkish twist.
A coffee spot in the heart of Queanbeyan, inspired by Turkish flavours.
The story behind the name
Husband and wife Mert and Buket opened Thirty Four in 2020 with their best mate Huso.
The name comes from region 34 in Turkey, where Mert grew up - and the age he was when they opened the doors.
They opened in January 2020, straight into the bushfire summer and then a pandemic. By December, Thirty Four had been named best cafe at the Canberra Region Local Business Awards - in its first year.
Six years on it's still the three of them, and the room fills every morning - tradies, prams, dogs, and regulars who don't need to say their order.
In 2024 the same family opened Rakkas, a modern Turkish dining restaurant on the Kingston Foreshore - one chef hat two years running, and named one of Australia’s must-visit restaurants. Thirty Four is where it all started.

The classics, and the twist.
The bacon egg roll and the big breakfast on one side. Ottoman eggs, Turkish coffee and sujuk on the other. Breakfast all day.

The prices are very reasonable given quality and portion sizes. Do note that the noise level inside the restaurant can be distracting. We will return - a gem for the Queanbeyan CBD!

I had the Ottoman poached eggs with yogurt — absolutely delicious — and the coffee was great too. Such a lovely atmosphere for a weekend breakfast. We’ll definitely be back.

The eggs were poached well and presentation of the dish was neatly done. Tastes was equal to it. Drinks are also really good too. I ordered a Strawberry matcha and was so thirsty I finished it in less than a minute. This is one of the better cafes in town and is worth a try if you're visiting or looking for breakfast or lunch.
